In line with the initiative to create a unique Philippines’ wellness brand that is focused on “holistic wellness,” many of the country’s leading hospitals and wellness resort offer holistic weight management programs. These are medically-supervised programs that aim to assist clients with weight- or nutrition-related issues achieve their proper weight and fitness goals.
Comprehensive and long-term in design, they help clients adopt healthier lifestyles to prevent complications arising from possibly existing health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure, and, thus, enable them to live happier and longer lives. Research has shown that a holistic weight management approach that combines strategies that address a person’s nutritional, exercise, behavioral, physical and psychological needs significantly increases the chance for long-term success.
For this purpose, some of the country’s top hospitals have put up weight management centers manned by highly-skilled professionals including physicians from multiple specialties, dietitians, fitness trainers and behavior therapists. Some wellness resorts also offer similar programs to which they add certain proven alternative medicine practices. To ensure that clients stick to their prescribed regimen, one resort even assigns a “wellness butler” to each one.
